BEYOND THE STAGE DOOR:
WHO WE ARE. WHAT WE BELIEVE IN. WHAT WE FACE.
For over half a century, the Musicians of The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra have served the Minneapolis and St. Paul communities as well as global audiences—inspiring, entertaining, and enlightening listeners with world-class, virtuosic performances of some of the most profound music ever written.
The SPCO is the nation’s ONLY full-time chamber orchestra, and its Musicians have been lauded for their superior artistry and dynamic performances. They have also been recognized for undertaking groundbreaking initiatives in all aspects of orchestral organization, governance, and imaginative programming.
The chamber orchestra repertoire holds an important and exciting place in the history of music, and this repertoire continues to grow with the SPCO’s advocacy. The Musicians of the SPCO express and share this incomparably rich art form with their audiences by offering fresh and inspiring interpretations that enrich the cultural and spiritual lives of their listeners.
The Musicians recognize that in order to fulfill their purpose, they must respond to the needs of the Twin Cities community. They continue to collaborate with the Management and Board of Directors to ensure that the organization moves forward in building upon the superior level of performances Minnesota audiences have come to expect. Without a shared vision, understanding, and passion for the SPCO, the Musicians fear that the orchestra’s very existence will be severely threatened. A fracturing of the organization will impoverish the entire Twin Cities arts scene.
